Originally released on the legendary Creation Records back in 1986, Felt’s Forever Breathes the Lonely Word stands as the jangle pop outfit’s greatest achievement. Wonderfully highlighting Lawrence’s wistful melancholy and Martin Duffy’s awe-inspiring organ shredding, the ingredients were simply right for this one. Every track is a highlight, but our all-time favorites remain the mesmerizing opener “Rain Of Crystal Spires” + certified heaters “Down But Not Yet Out” and “A Wave Crashed On Rocks.”

Felt is undoubtedly one of the most underrated bands of the 1980s, serving as a key influence for the likes of Belle and Sebastian, Manic Street Preachers, and Dean Blunt down the line. And unsurprisingly, nearly 40 years after its original release, Forever Breathes the Lonely Word sounds as esoteric and timeless as ever. It’s one of the finest examples of mid-’80s indie jangle, and it’s certainly every bit as good as what R.E.M. and the Smiths were producing at that time.

Highest possible recommendation. Our stock will certainly move fast, so grab a copy now!
