PV is honored to be handling exclusive USA distro for a bundle of new Spencer Clark (Skaters, Monopoly Child Star Searchers, Pacific City Sound Visions, etc.) cassette reissues. A particularly noteworthy one in the bunch is the first-ever tape edition of 2010’s Bamboo For Two, a Monopoly Child Star Searchers classic featuring James Ferraro on keys, Dolphins Into The Future on “waterfalls,” and Orphan Fairytale on marimba.

Along with The Spectacle Of Light Abductions—which was also recently reissued on tape—Bamboo For Two is perhaps Clark’s defining release as a composer and arranger. Under the Monopoly Child moniker, Clark pushed the musical tropes and visual aesthetic of 1950s exotica to their outer limits. Though the project has more in common with Joe Meek than Les Baxter, notable releases such as Bamboo, Make Mine, Macaw, and The Garnet Toucan were instant classics in Clark’s oeuvre upon their initial transmissions. And Bamboo is the headiest of the bunch; four pieces of deeply lo-fi and psychedelic ambient hymns in the faux-tribal compositional tradition. 16 years since its release, it sounds as timeless as ever.
