Morning in America is an unusual palette of electronically generated yet unmistakably human sounds. Recorded in Los Angeles during the winter of 2019-2020, it was pieced together with the most elemental of setups: a single Yamaha keyboard, drum machine and an array of effects pedals. What comes out of the twisted landscape is a study in tension and restraint; fractured beats interconnect with lush flute melodies and fall apart right when you start to feel comfortable. Disembodied voices draw the listener further into the depths of an underwater world that is yet somehow warm as the memory of remembered love. It is this dichotomy that defines the music of Shabbat.
